About Something Blue Photography

My passion for photography started in middle school, and it has been burning in my soul ever since. At the time, I had no idea where my journey would lead, but that was half the excitement. I first covered a wedding in 1988, and after twelve years of developing a solid clientele, I opened "Something Blue Photography" in 2000. I've covered around 500 weddings and counting - one of which I met my husband at!

Starting out as a film studio and converting to digital was an overwhelming process, but well worth all the curveballs. The experience has allowed me to push the limits of technology, see the next steps, and not jump, but leap to the next level. Not only am I a photographer, but a designer and communicator... putting together elements in a new and powerful way. I am constantly improving my style and technique through my memberships at the O.P.P.A. and P.P.A. - I also plan on adding C.P.P. soon as well. When I am not watching my kids' sports games, I am filling my schedule with workshops, classes, webinars and competitions. It seems like there's hardly time to be in the camera room - my happy place! Photography is ever changing though, and being conscious of that is what I have been groomed for.

Cesare Pavese once said "We do not remember days, we remember moments."
Denyce Weiler

I first discovered photography in college when taking an art elective. What started as an obligatory class to fulfill a requirement to graduate, grew into a lifelong love of all things photographic. After graduating with a BFA in Photography, I landed in San Francisco and called it home for 12 great years. There I owned a thriving photography studio specializing in Weddings, Families, Kids and even Pets! Working with my amazing clients was the most rewarding part of the job. When showing them the photographs I had taken of their loved ones, I never tired of seeing the delight on their faces as they pored over their pictures.

In 2007, I relocated to beautiful Portland, Oregon with my family. I had the good fortune of meeting Denyce one day out on the playground as our kids played together. After some good conversation and some good laughs, I teamed up with Denyce to help her grow her business and consult with her on matters photographic, both big and small. I’m excited to see to where we can take Something Blue Photography together.
